Join the U.S. Pain Foundation for a critical discussion on advancing chronic pain research.
During the webinar, the U.S. Pain Foundation’s National Director of Policy and Advocacy, Cindy Steinberg, will be discussing a federal bill the organization has championed called the “Advancing Research for Chronic Pain Act.” Joining her will be guests Nikita Varman, a Policy Aide from the office of Senator Bob Casey (D-PA), and Elizabeth Tapia, the Health Policy Advisor for Rep. Yadira Caraveo, M.D. (CO-08). Senator Casey took the lead in introducing this bill in Congress, and Rep. Caraveo introduced the bill in the House.
The Advancing Research for Chronic Pain Act, S.2922/H.R.7164 is one of only a handful of bills that have ever been introduced in Congress focusing on people with pain. This bill would require the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to analyze and publish key population health data on chronic pain, which is not currently done. Regular, high-quality data is needed to better understand the problem of pain, and to pave the way for improved treatment options.
Take a look at this one-page PDF on the bill to get more information.
