The AAPM Member Focus nominee for November 2022 is Rajat N. Moman, M.D., M.A.

Dr. Moman is a member of the AAPM 2022 Annual Meeting Planning Committee and serves as President of the AAPM Scholars Program.

He is currently a practicing physician at Pain and Spine Centers of Florida with locations in Leesburg and Lady Lake, FL, where he specializes in interventional pain medicine. In this role, Dr. Moman works closely with patients suffering from spinal conditions to develop personalized pain management therapies and interventional treatments.

Dr. Moman obtained his master of arts in medical science from Boston University School of Medicine before pursuing his medical degree from the Mayo Clinic School of Medicine, where he also completed his residency in Clinical Anesthesiology in the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine. Following his residency, Dr. Moman completed his fellowship in Chronic Pain Medicine within the Pain Division at Washington University.

Dr. Moman has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and has been nationally recognized for his research contributions. His areas of research include complications of neuromodulation, the use of technology and electronic health applications in medicine, and novel uses of neurostimulation for chronic pain syndromes.

When asked what drew him to practice pain medicine, Dr. Moman responded:

“The interventional aspects of pain management are what excite me about the field—performing an intervention to relieve a patient’s lower back pain, for example, and seeing them get better and resume living their life is rewarding. I utilize all sorts of more advanced interventions in my practice, such as spinal cord stimulation, peripheral nerve stimulation, interspinous spacers, and minimally invasive lumbar decompression.”

Dr. Moman is an active member of numerous professional societies, including the North American Neuromodulation Society, the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, the Mayo Fellows Association, and the American Society of Anesthesiology. He also serves as the Founding Co-Principal Investigator of the Anesthesiology Systematic Review Lab at Mayo Clinic.
