Is open to physicians who possess a doctor of medicine or a doctor of osteopathic medicine and non-physicians who possess a doctoral level degree in Psychology or Neuroscience.

These members spend a significant portion of their professional activities within the field of Pain Medicine or related disciplines.

*Active Members may vote, serve as officers or directors, and serve on and vote in committees, and are required to pay dues.

CLINICAL PRACTICE AFFILIATE*

$200 /yr

Is open to non-physician professionals in the United States of America or Canada who are (or are eligible to be) licensed, registered, or certified in a clinical healthcare profession that addresses the needs of patents with pain.

Non-physicians who possess a doctoral level degree in Psychology or Neuroscience qualify for Active membership.

Requires that licensure, registration or certification be in good standing or provide documentation that one has completed a program or course, allowing them to be licensed, registered or certified in a non-physician clinical healthcare profession that provides direct patient care as part of a pain care team.

*Members may Co-Chair committees with a current Active member and serve as voting members of committees or as liaisons to committees.

They cannot hold office or vote in business outside of their committee appointments.

NONCLINICAL PRACTICE AFFILIATE

Is open to non-physician professionals in the United States of America or Canada who do not provide direct patient care but whose principal professional responsibilities support the field of Pain Medicine.

Non-physicians who possess a doctoral level degree in Psychology or Neuroscience qualify for Active Membership. Requires submission of a resume/CV upon joining.

INTERNATIONAL

$305 /yr

Is open to physicians who possess a doctor of medicine or a doctor of osteopathic medicine and non-physicians who possess a doctoral level degree in psychology or neuroscience who have a license to practice medicine within their country of origin and outside of the United States of America or Canada.

These members spend a significant portion of their professional activities within the field of Pain Medicine or related disciplines.

AFFILIATE STUDENT

Is open to students enrolled and in good standing in a curriculum at an institution within the United States of America that is leading to licensure, certification, or registration in a clinical healthcare profession involved in the direct care of patients with pain. Requires a letter from the institution or unofficial transcript verifying enrollment in good standing and expected date of graduation.

This category is open to applicants during the term of professional training school and then upon graduation and licensure, certification or registration, membership becomes a Clinical Affiliate Membership.

MEDICAL STUDENT

Is open to medical students enrolled and in good standing in a curriculum at an institution within the United States of America that is approved by the Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education or the American Osteopathic Association. Requires a letter from the institution or unofficial transcript verifying enrollment in good standing and expected date of graduation.

This category is open to applicants during the term of medical school and then membership becomes a Resident Membership (for up to four (4) years of residency).

RESIDENT

Is open to physicians enrolled and in good standing in a residency program at an institution within the United States of America that is approved by the Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education or the American Osteopathic Association. Requires a letter from the residency program director or coordinator verifying enrollment in good standing.

This category is for up to four (4) years of residency and your membership becomes either a Fellow Membership (for one (1) year of fellowship) or Active Membership with the renewal fees of an Active Member.

TRAINEE

Is open to physicians enrolled and in good standing in a fellowship program at an institution within the United States of America that is approved by the Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education or the American Osteopathic Association. Requires a letter from the fellowship program director or coordinator verifying enrollment in good standing.

This category is for the one (1) year fellowship and then at renewal, your membership becomes Active Membership with the renewal fees of an Active Member.

SENIOR

Is open to Active Members sixty-eight (68) years of age or older and who have paid dues and/or assessments to the Academy for ten (10) years or more.

Senior Membership is requested by the Active Member and must be approved by the Board of Directors.
