Member Focus: Dr. Priyanka Singla — Advancing Education, Innovation, and Best Practices in Pain Medicine

This month, AAPM is proud to spotlight Dr. Priyanka Singla, a dedicated educator, innovative clinician, and an influential leader helping shape the future of pain medicine. As Chair of the AAPM Education Committee and assistant professor at the University of Virginia, Dr. Singla works tirelessly to expand and enrich AAPM’s educational programs for clinicians at every stage of their careers.

A board-certified anesthesiologist and pain specialist, Dr. Singla is deeply committed to advancing evidence-based treatments and improving patient outcomes. She made history as the first pain physician in Virginia to implant a restorative neurostimulation system for low back pain, an example of her drive to bring cutting-edge, non-opioid solutions to those in need. “It is rewarding when I can help my patients achieve their goals of functional improvement by providing pain relief,” she shares.

Dr. Singla’s impact also extends through her work on national clinical guidelines. She currently serves as a contributing member of the Topical Analgesics Clinical Guideline and the Restorative Function Guideline, both initiatives led by the AAPM Foundation that aim to refine best practices and expand safe, effective options for pain management.

Born in India and trained in both India and the U.S., Dr. Singla now calls Charlottesville home, where she balances her clinical practice, teaching, and leadership with family life. Outside of medicine, she enjoys traveling, cooking, and staying connected to her community.

Dr. Singla’s dedication to clinical excellence, education, and collaboration exemplifies the spirit of AAPM. We are honored to feature her as July’s Member Focus.
