The AAPM Member Focus nominee for January 2024 is Joseph Hendrix, MD.

Dr. Hendrix, an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology and Pain Management, is affiliated with the University of Texas Southwestern. Since earning his MD from the University of Michigan in 2012, he has specialized in pain medicine and ambulatory anesthesia, focusing particularly on high-risk cardiothoracic patients.

As a co-chair of the AAPM Pain Medicine Policy Committee, Dr. Hendrix plays a crucial role in directing pain management policies for AAPM. His expertise and leadership in this field contribute significantly to shaping the future of pain medicine.

He is also AAPM’s representative to the AMA CPT Advisory Committee. This committee acts as a consultative resource for the CPT Editorial Panel, offering guidance on coding procedures and suitable terminology related to the specialties of the committee members.

His academic and professional journey, coupled with his commitment to pain medicine policy, underscores his dedication to advancing pain management practices. Dr. Hendrix’s contributions to both his patients and the field of pain medicine reflect a profound commitment to improving healthcare outcomes and driving pain medicine policy to improve the lives of fellow providers and patients alike.
