Negotiations are currently underway in both the House and the Senate to address the impending 3.37% Medicare Physician Fee Schedule Conversion Factor cut, and your involvement can make a significant impact. While Congress is not expected to take action until January, the coming week and the next are crucial in shaping the outcome of these negotiations.

Here’s what we’ve learned so far:

  • The Senate Finance Committee is currently considering only a 1.25% patch (i.e. reducing the 3.37% CF cut by 1.25%), likely offset by money saved through PBM reforms.
  • The House Energy and Commerce Committee was considering a 1.75% patch with an extension of APM bonus payments set to expire this year; however, that proposal is now in jeopardy.
  • Additionally, a member of the House Ways and Means Committee was expected to introduce a full 3.37% patch earlier this week, but introduction of that legislation has stalled due to perceived lack of support.
