"Section Editor" for the Acute, Regional & Perioperative Pain Section of Pain Medicine

The primary role of the Section Editor is to provide timely management of the review process for manuscripts submitted to Pain Medicine that fall within the topics of Acute, Regional & Perioperative Pain.

The Section Editor is to provide authors with constructive feedback based on the reviews to help improve their manuscripts.

The Section Editor is to help encourage and foster their Co-Section Editors’ quality and efficiency of manuscript management, and supply direction as needed.

Reports To:

The Section Editor will report to the Editor-in-Chief

Responsibilities and Duties:

Manage the review process of papers appropriate for the journal
Ensure that authors appropriately respond to reviewer comments
Provide thorough and timely reviews of manuscripts when requested
Submit manuscripts of your own scholarly work and encourage submission of others’ quality work for consideration for publication
Recruit potential reviewers
Provide guidance and direct to Co-Section Editors as needed
Contribute your own ideas and suggestions for policies and procedures

Qualifications:

Individual should have past experience in overseeing the review process for manuscripts
Time to manage the review process for approximately 5-10 papers per month
Ability to effectively communicate constructive feedback to authors
Ability to provide mentorship to Co-Section Editors

"Statistical Editor" for Pain Medicine

The primary role of the Statistical Editor is to provide thorough and timely statistical reviews of manuscripts submitted to Pain Medicine as needed.

The Statistical Editor is to provide authors with statistical expertise, advice, and constructive feedback to improve their manuscript.

The Statistical Editor should make sure that authors adhere to methodological and statistical standards.

Reports To:

The Statistical Editor will report to the Editor-in-Chief

Responsibilities and Duties:

Provide statistical reviews of manuscripts (approximately thirty (30) per year)
Ensure that the study was properly conducted by authors
Ensure that the results are appropriately presented

Identify Possible Errors & Omissions In:
Study Design
 Data Analysis
 Data Presentation

Provide Confidential Comments to Editor as needed
 Provide specific suggestions for the author on how to improve the manuscript

Qualifications:

 Individual should have past experience in completing statistical reviews for journal manuscript submissions
 Time to complete 2-3 thorough reviews a month
Ability to effectively communicate constructive feedback to authors
