AAPM Presidential Commendation Honorees

Each year, the AAPM President may choose to honor additional worthy individuals with a Presidential Commendation. The American Academy of Pain Medicine is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2018 Presidential Commendations:

    In recognition and appreciation of years of service advocating for pain medicine and pain patients as a member of the Pain Care Coalition.
  • Robert Wailes, MD and Donna Bloodworth, MD
    In recognition and appreciation of their service representing AAPM at the American Medical Association House of Delegates.
  • Patrice Harris, MD
    In recognition and appreciation of commitment to physicians and patients and leadership of the American Medical Association Opioid Task Force.
  • Judith Scheman, PhD
    In recognition and appreciation of dedication to advancing interdisciplinary pain care both with patients and in training the next generation of behavioral pain clinicians.
  • Charles Argoff, MD
    In recognition and appreciation of leadership of the American Academy of Pain Medicine Foundation and ongoing educational initiatives across multiple specialties and disciplines.
  • Patrick J Tighe, MD, MS
    In recognition and appreciation of contributions to the development of the ACTTION-APS-AAPM Acute Pain Taxonomy (AAAPT), a multidimensional acute pain classification system; supporting development of the Acute Pain SIG; and work related to our academy’s journal, Pain Medicine, including the Acute Perioperative Pain Section and the growing Social Media Project.
