AAPM Announces Disparities in Pain Management Shared Interest Group
AAPM is happy to announce its newest Shared Interest Group (SIG), Disparities in Pain Management! Chaired by Juliet Gaisey, MD; James Khan, MD MSc; Sean Mackey, MD PhD; Fabienne Saint-Preux, MD; Natacha Telusca, MD MPH; and Charonn D. Woods, MD, this SIG seeks to equalize access to treatment for chronic pain in racial and ethnic minorities and people living in poverty. All AAPM members are invited to join this SIG—and other AAPM SIGs—to contribute to this important effort.
AAPM members can join this SIG by logging into your "My Account" page at painmed.org and managing your Shared Interest Group preferences.
Once you have joined the group, you can look forward to working with Drs. Gaisey, Khan, Mackey, Saint-Preux, Telusca, and Woods to fulfill the group's charge, which includes:
- Creating a forum for sharing knowledge and expanding awareness of existing disparities in pain care
- Promoting and participating in research efforts and programs to help improve access to pain treatment in the United States and globally
- Creating opportunities for mentorship and partnership to improve medical education in pain management
