In the 1980s, a group of physicians built the foundation for what would become the American Academy of Pain Medicine (AAPM).
On November 5, 2020, Philipp M. Lippe, MD, one of those founders, died. While Phil did not single-handedly establish AAPM, he was a monumental force in its formation and growth over the decades. Today, he is remembered by those that knew him personally as a man of integrity, a leader with an indomitable will, a passionate advocate of Pain Medicine, a friend, and of course as spouse and father.
The AAPM Board of Directors honors his life, his loyalty, and his legacy. Phil’s formal obituary can be found here.
